There's something really refreshing about being surrounded by sun and the great outdoors, and with the downpour of rain these last few days, it's time to look at the glorious rolling hills of England!
With it being so easy to jet off to exotic locations these days, it's easy to dismiss the beautiful landscapes that are so close to home.
Barton Hills in Bedfordshire is a prime spot for our family, as it's fairly local and has the most glorious combination of forests, fields, horses and hills! I have a mild obsession with hills. Whether they be rocky, sandy, snowy or grassy, I love them all! There is something truly magnificent about great expanses of earth that somehow mould beautifully around each other.

During the summer, we took several trips to the Barton Hills. It's the perfect spot for a family day out, and you can easily spend the whole day climbing the towering hills, munching on a picnic, running down the hills, exploring the forest while picking hazelnuts and secretly feeding the horses in the paddock.
The climb is a little steep, so beware as you'll be indulging in a good leg workout without even realising!
Before you climb the hills, you're greeted by a paddock of sleek chestnut horses. As they see people walk past their paddock, they trot over and flutter their thick lashes while swishing their manes, hoping for a bite of a sandwich or bakewell tart!

The local wildlife is certainly bustling. There are plenty of rabbit holes dotted around the hills as reminiscent of Teletubbies while birds of prey swoop in circles above.
The whole atmosphere is really relaxing and tranquil, and makes you think you've stepped into the world of Tolkien!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!
